Video Doorbells & Cameras

What to do after you change your Wifi Password

You have 3 options (Pick which one is easiest for you)

Overview of Options:

Option 1) WPS Mode: Press the WPS button on your Router to connect directly to the doorbell/camera

Option 2) AP Mode: "Log In" to your camera using a computer or smartphone.

Option 3) Ethernet Mode: Connect the router to your camera using an ethernet cord.

See Step by Step Guides for Each Method Below.

Option 1) WPS Mode (simplest way)

Easily re-establish the connection between your cameras and network by utilizing your router's WPS button. WPS, or Wi-Fi Protected Setup, serves as a convenient method for sharing your router's Wi-Fi credentials with compatible devices, eliminating the need to enter a password. Ensure both your router and camera are in WPS mode simultaneously to facilitate a seamless connection process.

Please note: Not all routers have WPS functionality. If your router lacks a WPS button or if the button is inactive (e.g., if the WPS button LED flashes red or remains unlit upon pressing), consider using one of the other 2 methods. For comprehensive information regarding WPS availability on your router, check out your router's user manual.

Step 1)

To start, press and hold the WPS button on your router until you see the LED indicator begin flashing. The WPS button is normally labeled with "WPS," a circular arrow formation, or a lock icon.

Step 2)

Once the router's WPS button is blinking, press and hold the WPS/Reset button on the Video Doorbell or Camera for a duration of 3 seconds. Release the button as soon as the LED begins flashing in a blue hue.

⚠️ NOTE: Please be careful when pressing and holding the WPS/Reset button on your camera. Extending the duration too long (ie, beyond 7 seconds) may trigger a factory reset, reverting the device to its default settings. During this process, you'll notice the camera's LED flashing alternately in red and green, signaling the reset action. If this happens, you'll need to remove the camera from your account and re-enroll it to restore functionality.

Step 3)

Ensure the LED indicator on the camera transitions to a steady green light before proceeding. This process may require up to 5 minutes, during which the camera may display various LED patterns.

Step 4)

Once the camera's LED indicator shines a steady green light, ensure that you can view live video feed on either the Alarm.com customer website or the Alarm.com mobile app. In case the LED fails to display a solid green light, refer to the LED troubleshooting section below for assistance.

Option 2) AP mode

Connect your cameras to the internet using a Wi-Fi enabled device like a smartphone, tablet, or computer. With Access Point (AP) mode, you can connect directly to the camera to adjust its Wi-Fi settings even when the camera is not connected to the internet.

Step 1)

To start your camera's Wi-Fi network, press and hold the WPS/Reset button for 5 seconds. Let go of the button as soon as you see the LED flashing white. This means your camera is sending out its own Wi-Fi network.

Step 2)

To get started, get our your smartphone, tablet or computer. Search for open wifi networks. You should see a network that starts with either ALARM or the Device Name, followed by (XX:XX:XX).

EXAMPLE: The network name could look like ADC-V700 (XX:XX:XX) or ALARM (XX:XX:XX)

Step 3)

Open up a Web Browser (like Chrome or Explorer). Then in the website address bar enter the Camera's Access Point (e.g., http://v723install, http://522irinstall, etc.). NOTE: If you don't know that - Enter: 192.168.1.1 and then follow the onscreen instructions.

A) Click Scan for wireless networks.

B) Click to select your Wi-Fi network.

C) In Security Key, enter your Wi-Fi password.

D) Click Save.

F) Click Ok in the pop-up window that appears asking to refer to the website.

Step 4)

Once the camera's LED indicator shines a steady green light, ensure that you can view live video feed on either the Alarm.com customer website or the Alarm.com mobile app. In case the LED fails to display a solid green light, refer to the LED troubleshooting section below for assistance.

Option 3) Ethernet mode

Connect your Doorbell or Camera directly to your router with an Ethernet Cable. Then you can update and reprogram your camera's wireless setting setting using the Alarm.com website or App.

Please note: Not all cameras not have an Ethernet port. If your camera does not have an ethernet port, use WPS or AP to connect the cameras.

Step 1)

Disconnect your camera from the power source

Step 2)

Plug your ethernet cable into the camera, and then the other end into your router.

Step 3)

Turn your camera on.

Step 4)

Wait (up to 5 minutes) until the camera's status LED is solid green.

Step 5)

Step 6)

Unplug the Ethernet cable. Then do a power cycle (By remove power and then reapply it) your camera.

Step 7)

Once the camera's LED indicator shines a steady green light, ensure that you can view live video feed on either the Alarm.com customer website or the Alarm.com mobile app. In case the LED fails to display a solid green light, refer to the LED troubleshooting section below for assistance.
